Newport - Ostend - Newport

On Saturday 13 August, the second edition of Nieuwpoort-Oostende-Nieuwpoort, Challenge Vandevelde, will take place. This is organised by the KYCN & RNSYC.

Newport - Ostend - Newport will be a challenging inshore that was created at the request of the sailors themselves. The idea to give it a Belgian cachet followed immediately after the Koninklijke Yacht Club Nieuwpoort and the Royal North Sea Yacht Club Oostende started working on it. 

The race is open to IRC and CR rated boats -including a double handed classification if sufficient participants- plus the J/80 class.

On the day of the race, one of the three tracks along the fixed marks at sea will be chosen, depending on wind, wave action and class. The first start is at the KYCN buoy, the start for the return race is at the inner bank buoy. The finish zones are at these same buoys. Of course, this new race qualifies for the general classification of the ONZK.
