Newsletter Works at the Harbour

Time is getting short, the enthusiasm that the project kicks off is getting bigger and bigger. This autumn, the major infrastructure works in our port will start. This will be done in cooperation with the Agency for Maritime Services and Coast. They will be responsible for the renovation of all main jetties, tubular poles, footbridges and abutments.

For its part, KYCN is investing in a large number of new catwalks (which will enable us to welcome larger boats to our port in the future) or a thorough renovation of existing catwalks, a new water and electricity network on the jetties, new signposting, a thorough upgrade of the harbour master's office, a new WiFi system and a number of other miscellaneous modifications to existing infrastructure.

We will of course do everything we can to make the port available again to our members by the end of march 2022!

In the meantime, almost all of the suppliers have been identified and, in collaboration with MDK, we are working on a tight schedule, although sufficient margin is included should the weather prevent work from being carried out. A first crucial phase in the works will be in October when we have to dismantle the entire port. All utility pipes, wifi systems, water and electricity poles, but above all, all the catways must be removed and stored. A hell of a logistic challenge for the club, but fortunately we can count on a strong team to reinforce us!

We will keep you informed on a regular basis about the evolution of the works via this way and via the Nieuwpoortbank.

If you have any questions regarding the works or if you would like to take a look at the plans, you are always welcome in the secretariat!
